Let us help your dreams come true!
So, you are looking for a lifestyle change and want to operate a small hotel or guesthouse? We are offering you the opportunity to try it out and learn from some of our mistakes, fast tracking your path to the satisfying running of an established hotel. A typical itinerary would look like this, but it is fully flexible and fluid:
Arrive after lunch, have a look around and a cup of tea then go for a walk. Take dinner as a guest!
Report to the kitchen for breakfast duty, e.g. assisting with table service. After clearing up, have breakfast and then spend the day talking about various hot topics. These will include marketing, web sites, the business name, advertising opportunities, social media, marketing groups, on-line booking, licensing, environmental health, trading standards, tourism industry in Scotland (VisitScotland, AA), accounts, VAT, suppliers, statistics, FSB, room inspection, etc. Finish up at about 5pm (there is a working lunch!) and assist with dinner from 6.30pm.
Similar to day two but includes help serviceing a room. Exactly what is covered will depend upon the individuals attending. This is not a certificated course, you will not learn to cook, but we will try to dispense some help and assistance so that you can enjoy and make your own venture a success. After you have left you will have a friendly source of advice, a help line, with no axes or interests to grind, at the end of the phone.
Enjoy breakfast as a guest and after a wrap up session depart. What do you take away? We will provide you with a notebook to record your learning and thoughts. We will also give you a list of contacts, people and companies that will help you make more of your own venture. And we will be available, after the four days, on the end of the phone to provide a sounding board.
Cost, assuming two sharing an ensuite room is £1150 including VAT
We have been here over ten years and in that time have made a number of mistakes, this is an opportunity for you to learn from our mistakes and experience - probably invaluable!
